CNN’s Jake Tapper really wanted everyone’s attention before his show came on Monday, but the report he teased prior to “The Lead” didn’t exactly live up to expectations.

WATCH:

At the start of the program, Tapper told the audience “We begin with a major development in the Russia investigation, one that assuredly will be of great interest to special counsel Robert Mueller as he investigates whether or not the President of the United States, Donald Trump, attempted to obstruct justice in the Russia investigation.”

Tapper proceeded to reveal the findings of a new CNN report that indicates that in December, Trump asked Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein if he was “on my team.”

The report states that Rosenstein said, “Of course, we’re all on your team, Mr. President.”

As the CNN article says itself, “It is not clear what Trump meant or how Rosenstein interpreted the comment.”

Rosenstein also reportedly asked for “Trump’s support in fighting off document demands from House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes.”

That’s literally it. That was the breaking news.

This scoop isn’t exactly Watergate material, Jake.
