Rep. Nancy Pelosi referred to the GOP tax cuts as a “scam” on Wednesday and asserted that middle class families will actually be paying more under the plan.

Pelosi previously referred to the $1000 bonuses that many companies are giving to employees as “crumbs” and is now attacking the tax cuts themselves.
“The president presents himself with this GOP tax scam as something to help the middle class,” Pelosi said on Capitol Hill on Wednesday. “At the same time his tax scam calls for 86 million middle class families to pay more as he pads the pockets of the top 1 percent.”
Pelosi’s insistence that 86 million families will pay more rests on the idea that pieces of the bill expire in 2027. The individual tax cuts do expire that year, but Pelosi refuses to acknowledge that families receive a significant tax cut in the preceding ten years. She also suggests the expirations are a reason to destroy the bill rather than extend it past 2027.
