President Donald Trump castigated Democratic lawmakers during his Thursday speech at the congressional retreat in West Virginia for refusing to applaud when he mentioned record low black unemployment during the State of The Union address..

“African American and Hispanic unemployment have both reached the lowest levels ever recorded and when I made that statement the other night there was zero movement from the Democrats,” Trump said. “They sat there stone cold, no smile, no applause. You would have thought that on that one they would have sort of at least clapped just a little bit. Which tells you, perhaps, they would rather see our country not do well than see us do great.”

Trump touted the record low unemployment numbers Tuesday to a noticeable lack of applause from the Democratic side of the aisle.

“African-American unemployment stands at the lowest rate ever recorded, and Hispanic-American unemployment has also reached the lowest levels in history,” Trump said to cheers from Republicans.

Trump referred to the Democrats’ State of The Union response while recounting the economic gains made under his administration, returning to his familiar complaint about not receiving enough credit from the media.
