President Donald Trump once again took aim at Democratic lawmakers for dismissing his legislative solution to codify DACA protections into law, in a speech before GOP legislators Thursday.

“They’re not looking to improve it at all,” Trump said of Democratic lawmakers rebuffing his offer of a pathway to citizenship for 1.8 million illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children.

POTUS also expressed his frustration with Democrats Thursday morning on Twitter:

The White House plan hinges on receiving $25 billion from Congress for a wall along the US-Mexico border, an end to chain migration and an end to the diversity visa lottery program.

Democratic legislative leaders like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer have rejected the White House proposal outright, decrying its long term cuts to the immigration system and pledging not to allocate funds for a border wall. The president however has repeatedly emphasized to Schumer and other democratic lawmakers that if there is no funding for a border wall then a legislative fix for the illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children is a non starter.
