Some people seem to think that Carson Wentz’s job security might be in jeopardy after Nick Foles led the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl victory.
That is an absurd notion, and only a ridiculous football fan would ever believe that. Foles won last night, but he’s not an elite quarterback by any stretch of the imagination. I’d say that he’s an average quarterback, who can occasionally play at a slightly higher than average level.
There are probably fewer than three teams in the NFL that Foles would be guaranteed to start on right now.
On the other hand, Wentz is a freak of nature quarterback. The guy is one of the best players in the league right now, and is borderline unstoppable on his best days. Wentz has a rocket attached to his body, he’s mobile, he can make all the throws and he just is simply better. Yes, he got hurt towards the end of this season, but he’ll be starting as long as he’s healthy. No chance, and I mean no chance, that Foles ever threatens his job security.
It’s laughable to think otherwise.
