Rob McElhenney, Kaitlin Olsen and Danny DeVito were in Minneapolis Sunday night to see the Philadelphia Eagles defeat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII.
Olsen tweeted out a photo of her and husband McElhenney along with DeVito at the game.
Their characters on the hit FXX show were huge fans of the Eagles, and in one episode they try out for the team, a la “Invincible.” Juxtaposed with the imagery of fans tearing apart their city Sunday night, the song’s theme music fits almost too perfectly. It’s almost as if the footage was specifically designed to make an appearance on the show.
DeVito also appeared in the homes of everyone watching, in an M&M commercial where he played the red M&M personified.
One can only hope that, when the 14th season of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” finally rolls around, there will be an episode centered on the gang going to the Super Bowl, or rioting in the streets of their home town afterward.
