MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski and NBC’s Andrea Mitchell agreed that it was “devastating” when the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails was reopened shortly before the 2016 election.

The “Morning Joe” panel discussed Lanny Davis’ new book “The Unmasking of the President 2016,” which argues that former FBI director James Comey cost Hillary Clinton the 2016 election.

“I remember when we heard the news, we both said, ‘Oh, my God, this is going to change everything,'” Scarborough said, referencing Comey’s announcement that the FBI was reopening the Clinton investigation. “And it did. Just like that.”

“We definitely said that,” Brzezinski confirmed.

Mitchell, who was on Clinton’s plane when the news hit, recounted the incident sadly.

“And I was on the Clinton plane the minute that happened and we knew what was going on,” Mitchell said.

“Those pictures from that day on that plane — ” Brzezinski started.

“Devastating,” Mitchell filled in, prompting Brzezinski to agree.
