Planned Parenthood will celebrate Valentine’s Day by staging a protest on President Donald Trump’s budget cuts, alleging that the budget proposal will be damaging to American families and that the administration should think before enacting cuts to certain government departments.
The Wednesday protest will take place on the Senate side east lawn, and speakers from the Center for American Progress Action Fund, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, the National Women’s Law Center and others will deliver comments, according to the Facebook event’s description.
Sponsored by the abortion organization — along with Americans For Tax Fairness, Tax March and the Center For American Action Progress — the Valentine’s Day event, entitled “Hands Off Protest Against Trump’s Budget Cuts,” mirrors Planned Parenthood’s “Hands Off My Birth Control” campaign in October.
Planned Parenthood also advocated for birth control methods on Valentine’s Day in 2014, celebrating condom use by tweeting, “Will you be my birth control?”

“Join leading members of Congress and anti-poverty, labor, civil rights, faith, and progressive leaders for a rally against Trump’s budget cuts,” the 2018 event description states, encouraging protestors to take up banners against the president’s proposal. The proposed cuts “will have devastating effects on American families trying to make ends meet,” the description adds.
The budget proposal includes funding increases for the Departments of Homeland Security, Veterans Affairs and Defense while the State, Labor, Environmental Protection, and Housing and Urban Development Departments will see decreases. The proposal also seeks $3.6 trillion in savings over 10 years.
America will take “care of the military like never before,” Trump said before the budget was released, NBC News reports.
Trump’s budget plan was released the same day as his $1.5 trillion infrastructure plan that includes key reforms to environmental laws.
Planned Parenthood Action Fund did not reply to The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
