Melania Sends Thoughts And Prayers After Florida School Shooting

Melania Trump sent thoughts and prayers Wednesday to all the people affected by the mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida.

“My heart is heavy over the school shooting in Florida. Keeping all affected in my thoughts & prayers,” the first lady tweeted after a gunman opened fire at Stoneman Douglas High School, killing at least 17 people before being taken into custody.

Shortly after news broke about the deadly shooting, President Donald Trump said he had been in contact with Florida Governor Rick Scott and offered “prayers and condolences to the families of the victims.”

“My prayers and condolences to the families of the victims of the terrible Florida shooting,” Trump tweeted. “No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school. Just spoke to Governor Rick Scott. We are working closely with law enforcement on the terrible Florida school shooting.”
