Special Counsel Robert Mueller interviewed a former spokesman for President Donald Trump’s legal team on Thursday, The Daily Caller News Foundation has confirmed.

Former Justice Department spokesperson Mark Corallo met with Mueller’s team for two hours, Victoria Toensing, his attorney, told TheDCNF.

The Daily Beast first reported the news.

Corallo resigned as spokesman for Trump’s legal team last July, shortly after it was reported that Donald Trump Jr. hosted a meeting at Trump Tower in June 2016 with a group of Russians who promised dirt on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

It has since been reported that Corallo resigned over concerns that the Trump White House had obstructed justice in its response to the Trump Tower revelation.

Trump and White House Communications Director Hope Hicks drafted a statement that left out key details of the meeting. Trump Jr. attended the meeting with then-campaign chairman Paul Manafort and Jared Kushner.

The initial White House statement asserted that the meeting was held to discuss Russia’s prohibitions against Americans adopting Russian children. Emails that Trump Jr. exchanged prior to the June 9, 2016, meeting showed that he accepted the meeting after an acquaintance said a Russian government lawyer wanted to provide damaging information about Clinton.

“If it is what you say I love it,” Trump Jr. said.

Corallo was reportedly concerned with a conversation he had with Hicks and Trump prior to the release of the White House’s official statement.

Hicks said that Trump Jr.’s emails “will never get out,” according to The New York Times.

Corallo was concerned about Hicks’ comment for two reasons. He was reportedly worried that Hicks was suggesting that Trump Jr.’s emails be concealed and also that the discussion was held without a lawyer present. This meant the conversation was not protected by attorney-client privilege.

All of the parties involved in the Trump Tower meeting have denied that any collusion took place. The Trump campaign has claimed the Russian delegation sought the meeting under false pretenses and that there was no follow-up to the meeting. Toensing declined to give specifics about Corallo’s meeting with Mueller’s team. Earlier this week, Mueller & Co. interviewed former White House strategist Steve Bannon for 20 hours over the course of two days.
