After footage of him body slamming one of his eighth grade students was posted to Facebook, a substitute teacher was removed from his post at a North Carolina Middle school.

A substitute teacher at a North Carolina middle school was fired after body-slamming one of his eighth grade students to the ground.

A few seconds of the encounter — including the body-slam — were caught on camera and posted to Facebook by the victim’s mother, MyFox8 reports. The incident supposedly occurred on Valentine’s Day.

The teacher is 49-year-old Paul Stennett from Guilford Middle School.

The recipient of the body-slam, Jose, says it all began when Stennett confiscated a box of Valentine’s Day chocolates from him. Stennett allegedly confiscated the chocolates from Jose and placed them in the sink. Jose waited until the end of class to retrieve the sweets from the sink when Stennett stepped in, according to MyFox8.

The teacher tried to snatch the chocolates back but was unsuccessful in his attempt. At that point, Stennett grabbed Jose’s shirt and jammed him into the concrete wall. He then hoisted Jose up in the air and threw him to the floor as other students looked on with perturbation, video shows.

“This kind of behavior toward a student is disturbing and unacceptable. We reported the behavior to law enforcement and will no longer employ this person as a substitute teacher or in any other GCS position,” said Guilford County Schools chief of staff Nora Carr.

Jose’s mother indicated she intends to pursue legal action against the school and teacher.
