Oprah Winfrey is following the lead of George and Amal Clooney in donating $500,000 to the anti-gun “March For Our Lives” protest being organized by the students of Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School.

Last week a gunman opened fire at the South Florida high school, killing 17 people and reinvigorating the gun debate across the country. The survivors of the school shooting have begun to organize a march to take place in Washington, D.C. in which they will rally for gun control in response to the recent tragedy.

George and Amal Clooney announced that they were throwing support behind the march on Tuesday saying their “children’s lives depend on it.” Later that afternoon several other celebrities including Steven Spielberg and Winfrey announced that they planned to join the gun-control cause.

“George and Amal, I couldn’t agree with you more,” Oprah said in a tweet. “I am joining forces with you and will match your $500,000 donation to ‘March For Our Lives.’ These inspiring young people remind me of the Freedom Riders of the 60s who also said we’ve had ENOUGH and our voices will be heard.”

The “March For Our Lives” will take place in Washington D.C. on March 24. According to their website, the goal is “to demand that their lives and safety become a priority and that we end this epidemic of mass school shootings.”
