President Donald Trump responded on Friday to new reports that the deputy at Stoneman Douglas High School “never went in” the school during last Wednesday’s shooting.

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said on Thursday that the deputy “clearly” knew there was a shooting going on inside the school but “never went in.” The deputy has since resigned from his position. (RELATED: Deputy Who Arrived At Shooting ‘Never Went In’ School)
Trump spoke to the press briefly on Friday and said that the deputy clearly did a “poor job.”
“Deputy Sheriff Peterson, I guess his name is, I mean, they brought it out, I was surprised. It deserves to be brought out. What he did — he’s trained his whole life — there’s an example,” Trump said. “But when it came time to get in there and do something, he didn’t have the courage or something happened. But he certainly did a poor job.”
“There’s no question about that,” he asserted.
“He was there for five minutes — for five minutes, that was during the entire shooting.” “They didn’t react properly under the pressure or they were a coward. It’s a real shot to the police department,” Trump concluded.
