Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles scored himself a $54 million extension.
The extension is for over three years and can get kicked all the way up to $66.5 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Jaguars are giving QB Blake Bortles a new three-year, $54 million deal, worth up to $66.5M with incentives, that includes $26.5M guaranteed, tying him to Jacksonville through the 2020 season, per source.

Jaguars’ QB Blake Bortles’ salary-cap number for the 2018 season now will be $10 million, down from the $19 million it was scheduled to to be. His new contract lowered his cap number for coming season by a whopping $9 million.

I was so happy when I saw this news, smiling ear to ear. Nobody has been ripped more over the past few years than Blake Bortles. The guys is a human whipping post. It’s brutal to watch some of the criticism he’s taken.
However, he’s an incredibly entertaining dude and he definitely gives off the vibe that he’d be great to get drunk with. He also is incredibly underrated. Is he one of the best quarterbacks in the league? No, he’s not. But he still wins. Hell, the Jags were a possession away from the Super Bowl this past season, and Bortles was a huge part of that incredible run.
There has been lots of pressure on the Jags to cut and run from Bortles. That would have been a mistake. I’m glad to see they are sticking with him and making $54 million sure doesn’t hurt for our guy Bortles.
