The Australia town of Kurri Kurri recently threw a mullet festival, and it’s one of the coolest things we’ve ever seen.

Konbini reported the following:

While the geometry of the iconic ’80s hairstyle has changed slightly over the years, the premise of the cut has stayed the same: business in the front, party in the back. It’s a timeless formula and thanks to the cyclical world of fashion, it’s now more on-trend than ever. The proof was seen in the little town of Kurri Kurri, Australia, this weekend where the country’s first ever “Mulletfest” was held.

Reuters also released video of the event.

How can you not love this idea? It’s so funny on every single level. It mostly shows that these people don’t take themselves too seriously. The first rule of having a mullet is that you have to live on the edge and have a sense of humor. That is rule number one.

Rule number two is that you have to be ready to party at any moment. It looks like all the participants have no problem with either. We should start embracing this kind of a mentality more often in America. Business in the front and party in the back isn’t a hairstyle. It’s a lifestyle.

A mullet insider did tell me that there are downsides to the lifestyle. “The roots of the hair started to grow into my brain and effect my behavior. I couldn’t stop ripping cigs, so I had to cut it.”

It certainly sounds like a tough lifestyle to embrace, but I think it’s probably worth it.
