A former Trump campaign aide who was recently interviewed by the special counsel’s office says he plans to rip up a grand jury subpoena on live television.
Sam Nunberg told The Washington Post that he was issued a subpoena by Special Counsel Robert Mueller to appear before a federal grand jury on Friday. The two-page subpoena also demanded that he produce records of his communications with President Donald Trump and nine current and former Trump associates.

Nunberg was interviewed by Mueller’s investigators in February as part of the investigation into Russian interference in the presidential campaign. (RELATED: Ex-Trump Aide Offers Explanation For Why Trump Couldn’t Have Colluded With Russians)
But Nunberg told The Post that he plans to ignore the subpoena. And more than that, he said he plans to rip up the document during an appearance on Bloomberg TV.
“Let him arrest me,” Nunberg said. “Mr. Mueller should understand I am not going in on Friday.”
Nunberg began working for Trump in 2011 but was fired from the Trump campaign in 2015 because of racially insensitive comments he had posted online years earlier.
Since his firing, Nunberg has publicly criticized Trump.
“Donald Trump won this election on his own. He campaigned his ass off. And there is nobody who hates him more than me,” he told The Post.
Mueller’s subpoena seeks Nunberg’s communications with Trump, and several campaign advisers, including Steve Bannon, Hope Hicks, Carter Page, Corey Lewandowski and Rick Gates.
Mueller also seeks records of Nunberg’s contacts with Roger Stone, a longtime Trump pal who introduced Nunberg to Trump’s circle.
“I’m not spending 80 hours going over my emails with Roger Stone and Stephen K. Bannon and producing them,” Nunberg said.
Most of the names on the subpoena list have clear contacts to Nunberg. As a member of Trump’s inner circle, he was in regular contact with Hicks, Lewandowski and Stone. But Nunberg’s links to former Trump advisers like Carter Page are unclear.
Page, who joined the Trump campaign months after Nunberg was fired, told The Daily Caller News Foundation that he has never met or communicated with Nunberg.
