A 26-year-old girl named Lissette Calveiro from Connecticut sank herself more than $10,000 in debt buying followers and living an expensive lifestyle in order to achieve the perfect Instagram account.

She claims she was living well above her means all in search of the perfect picture. She has over 20,000 followers on Instagram but claims she was living a lie.

“I was living a lie,” she told the NY Post. “Debt was looming over my head.”

She says she went on pricey shopping sprees every month so she’d never have to repeat the same outfit twice. She also said she travelled just so she could collect special filters on Snapchat to show off to her friends.

Here’s the thing with this move. It’s already extremely questionable to spend 10 grand on social media. If you care that much about your online profile, something’s already wrong with you. But why Instagram? If you want people to care so much about your whereabouts, why not try to be really good looking? Hire a personal trainer, a makeup artist, a stylist, or a personal chef. Get a language coach and learn to be bilingual. It’s basically a proven fact that you become 10x more attractive if you also know how to speak French. Nobody cares if you jetted off to Morocco for the weekend.

Not to mention, if you’re trying to impress the opposite sex with all of this stuff, there’s a 99 percent chance you’re going to fail. I’m not a guy, but I’m pretty sure all this crap does not fly with men. It’s an invitation for them to run away as fast as humanly possible. I respect her for trying but this really is not the best avenue to go down if you’re trying to land a dude.
