Authorities arrested Linda Sarsour at Speaker of the House Paul Ryan’s office Monday while demanding Ryan meet with her and others protesting current inaction on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program (DACA) program.

An outspoken Muslim activist, advocate of Sharia law and co-chair of the Women’s March, Sarsour — along with Zahra Billoo and Omar Suleiman, Dawud Walid, Talib Shareef, Nihad Awad and Mujahid Fletcher from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) — were arrested for civil disobedience according to MSN.com.

“We don’t want to live based on fear. We want to live according to the principles of freedom of speech, of religion,” said Fletcher, an immigrant from Columbia who doesn’t want to see DACA end.

Sarsour and her cohorts sought to speak with Ryan about President Donald Trump ending the renewal of the DACA program.

Monday marked the last day that legislators could provide an alternate solution for the DACA program, but the Supreme Court delayed the deadline for up to a year.

A group of DREAMers also protested in front of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) Monday with the aim of criticizing Democrats for not passing a permanent fix to the DREAM Act. Approximately two dozen activists gathered in the street outside of the DNC before blocking its front doors and refusing to let staffers enter or exit. Sarsour’s arrest comes after Asmi Fathelbab accused her of covering for the man who allegedly sexually harassed Fathelbab while she worked for the Arab American Association. Fathelbab told The Daily Caller in December that her coworker Majed Seif had rubbed her crotch without her consent and had stalked her in 2009 while she worked as an employee for the Arab American Association. She maintains that Sarsour, then the executive director of the group, covered for him. Seif is now suing for defamation, maintaining that Fathelbab’s claims are false. (RELATED:Linda Sarsour Got Accused Of Harassment Cover Up. Now Her Accuser’s Being Sued)
