President Donald Trump shocked the world Thursday night when he announced he would meet with both North and South Korea before the end of May 2018.

Former NBA all-star Dennis Rodman was one of the first notable figures to praise the move. “Much respect to President Trump and Marshall Kim Jong Un for their upcoming historic meeting,” he tweeted Friday morning. “I said it back in 2014 that doors will open.” The tweet was accompanied by a video of him in Pyeongchang back in 2014 saying “one day, this door’s going to open.”

Dennis Rodman has long been a proponent of more diplomatic North Korean-American relations. He’s visited North Korea five times and called dictator Kim Jong Un a “friend for life.” He’s also hand delivered a copy of Trump’s “Art Of The Deal” when he visited once. It’s probably not likely that Dennis Rodman had anything to do with this situation but there’s no doubt he definitely believes he does.

Not many details about the upcoming meeting between US and Korean leaders have been disclosed however many have speculated that the recent developments are a step in the right direction toward diplomacy.
