Last month Joy Behar criticized Mike Pence by mocking him for his Christian faith by claiming that hearing from Jesus is actually called “mental illness.” Though “The View” host has apologized to Pence, she has failed to apologize to the millions of Christians who watch the ABC talk show.

Pence forgave Behar after she apologized for her comments privately, but the Vice President reportedly urged her to offer an apology to the millions of Christians who she offended, rather than just him. (RELATED: Why Hasn’t Joy Behar Condemned Oprah For Suggesting God Speaks To Her)

“She apologized to the vice president, he accepted and said he wasn’t offended by her comment for his own sake but on behalf of the millions of Christians who watch ABC and her show,” a White House source told Fox News. “He encouraged her to make the same apology publicly on the show that she did privately to him.”

Behar’s private apology was made public when Disney CEO Bob Iger addressed it in a shareholders’ meeting on Thursday in response to a question regarding the controversy.

“What do you say to the tens of millions of Christians, and President Trump supporters, that your networks have so blatantly offended and ascribed hateful labels?” a shareholder asked Iger. “Specifically, do you think, like Mrs. Hostin and Mrs. Behar, that the Christian faith is akin to a dangerous mental illness?”

Iger responded by saying, “I don’t know where I start. First of all, Joy Behar apologized to Vice President Pence directly. She made a call to him and apologized, which I thought was absolutely appropriate.”

The ABC boss noted that he was “glad to hear” Behar apologized adding, “I don’t think it was right.”
