YouTube star Jake Paul has some hot takes about gun control, and they’re pretty much all awful.

Paul initially garnered outrage online because he didn’t come out in favor of gun control after speaking to Senator Marco Rubio.

Well, he quickly compensated for that decision, and went full tilt with some terrible ideas. His ideas include:

1. be at least 21 to buy a gun
2. Go through a 6 month minimum course (similar to a drivers license course)
3. Professional Mental Heath evaluation
4. Ban Gun shows now!
5. 30 day wait period after purchase to receive firearm

Yeah, I’m going to have to go ahead and take a hard pass on absolutely all of these suggestions. If you can fight and die in a war at 18, vote at 18, serve on a jury and a variety of other things at 18, then you damn well better be able to get a gun.

Point two is just as dumb as point one. A gun is a right. A driver’s license is not. You obviously shouldn’t be dumb with one, but having the government regulating training is a dangerous game.

Ban gun shows? Hell now. That’s one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard of. A 30 day waiting period is absurd. I think waiting periods in general are dumb, but one of 30 days is completely unacceptable. I need a gun when I need a gun. Not a month after the after the fact.

Jake Paul should focus more on creating viral content, and less on trying to dictate gun policy.
