President Donald Trump’s administration will sanction 19 Russian nationals for meddling in the 2016 presidential election, multiple senior national security officials told reporters Thursday morning.

The sanctions will also target Russian nationals and entities for cyber attacks on the U.S. energy grid along with other U.S. based companies and persons.

The sanctions include new authorities granted to the U.S. government under the Countering America’s Adversaries Act, passed by Congress over the summer.

Officials stressed that the announced sanctions are not the only actions the U.S. government will take in response to Russian activity. The sanctions come as the U.S. joined the heads of European security agencies in calling out Russia for a nerve agent attack in the U.K.
