Danny Masterson will be replaced by Dax Shepard on Netflix’s hit series “The Ranch.”

Masterson was removed from the show after allegations of sexual misconduct, but the show will go on.

The Hollywood Reporter reported:

Netflix is starting to help fill the void created by Danny Masterson’s upcoming departure from The Ranch.

Parenthood alum Dax Shepard has booked a recurring guest star role in the upcoming third season of the streaming giant’s comedy.

Shepard will play Luke Matthews, a former soldier who has come to Garrison with some history concerning the Iron River Ranch. There, he meets the Bennetts and forms an immediate bond with Colt (Ashton Kutcher) and Beau (Sam Elliott), but Luke’s past has a way of catching up with him.

This show is one of the best shows in all of television and streaming right now. I was very worried that the whole thing would be shut down after Masterson left. I was seriously concerned, so this is kind of bitter sweet for me.

First, I’m very happy to see the show go on. It would have been awful if this show had to stop production forever. I would not have been pleased at all.

At the same time, going from Masterson to Shepard is like going from an ice cold Miller Lite to a piss warm microbrew. It’s just not the same. Obviously, I know that Shepard is talented, but Masterson was incredible on this show. I’m just not sure Shepard will be the same.

We’ll just have to wait and find out.
