Demi Lovato celebrated six years of sobriety Friday with a heartfelt message on Instagram.
Lovato has had a very public history with drugs and alcohol problems, and has opened up about it in the past.
She captioned an Instagram photo of herself, “I’m so grateful for all of the 6 year sober birthday wishes… it means more than you know. Truly. Thank you.”
It’s great to see that Lovato is sober and honest about her past. Good for her. Way too many people cheer for celebrities to have public downfalls. Just look at Johnny Manziel for another example of someone people cheered on to fail.
I’ll never understand why people take joy in people struggling with personal demons or addiction. It makes no sense at all.
I’m happy to see Lovato is sober, just like I’m happy to see Manziel is as well. Hopefully she serves as an example to others about the importance of getting clean and sober.
