South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham expressed his support for John Bolton to serve as National Security Adviser Friday on “Fox & Friends.” Graham praised President Donald Trump for the decision.

“[Bolton] has a world view that I think will help the president make us safer,” Graham said. “He’s believed, stronger than anybody, that North Korea having an ICBM, nuclear-tipped missile to hit America is a nonstarter. He believes the Iranian agreement is a terrible deal for the world, the United States and Israel. He believes in a strong military, going after the terrorists, taking the gloves off. He’s a diplomat. But he understands that if you’re going to deal with thugs like the Ayatollah in Iran, you’ve got to be taken seriously.”

“I think he’s going to help the president shape policies that make us all safer,” Graham continued. “The era of leading from behind is over. John Bolton is a leading from the front kind of guy.”

Graham then praised Trump and called him “one hell of a good commander-in-chief” before calling Bolton the “right” man “at the right time.”

“Donald Trump is one hell of a good commander-in-chief,” Graham concluded. “God bless H.R. [McMaster], but John Bolton is the right guy at the right time with a worldview that I think will reinforce the president’s instincts to go after our enemies and to be a better ally. And one of the big losers in this is going to be Russia.”
