North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is reportedly in China, although it is not immediately clear why, Bloomberg reports, citing three sources familiar with the situation.

A train, one akin to the train that carried past North Korean leaders abroad, arrived in Beijing Monday afternoon, prompting significant speculation that the North Korean leader might be on board the mysterious locomotive. Heightened security and the presence of a sizable motorcade contributed to rumors that Kim is traveling in China.

If Kim has indeed left North Korea, it is his first oversees trip since he took power after the death of his father in 2011.

The North Korean leader is expected to meet with South Korean President Moon Jae-in in the near future, and that landmark summit may then be followed by a meeting with President Donald Trump. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has also expressed an interest in meeting with the young despot. As relations between Beijing and Pyongyang have been icy, Kim may be extending his foray into diplomacy into China.

Kim has yet to meet a foreign head of state.
