Sekulow noted that Grenell “frankly has the credentials to be the secretary of state” and lambasted the Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell for not holding a vote on his nomination. Grenell is the longest serving U.S. spokesman at the UN who worked throughout the Bush administration.
“These need to be moving forward,” he declared, adding “when they’re back in session the phones need to be ringing off the hook to get the these Ambassadors up and voted on.”
“This is a political stall thats hurting our national security.”
Grenell’s nomination has been held up from unanimous consent by Democratic lawmaker, reportedly over concerns regarding his past tweets about Wikileaks.
A source close to Grenell however previously told TheDC that all his past tweets about Wikileaks only criticized the media for not covering stories, not celebrating the organization.
Source close to @RichardGrenell pushed back against Dem objections about Wikileaks related tweets relayed to @jaketapper. Noted that Wikileaks tweets all bashed MSM for not covering story. Not celebrating the organization https://t.co/Foami5jGc8 pic.twitter.com/wscii20CJz
