Baseball season is underway, and that’s a great time to honor the legacy of Kenny Powers.

HBO might have made the funniest television character in entertainment history when it released “Eastbound & Down.”

Powers represents everything that we love about sports. He’s got a cocky attitude, he loves beer, he chases hot women and he really just loves giving the world the middle finger. I think that’s something we can all get behind. There’s honestly probably not a better time to watch some Powers highlights than the early part of the baseball season.

He was a man on top, he lost it all, went down to Mexico and somehow made it back. It’s truly an American story of perseverance.

People who don’t love Kenny Powers shouldn’t be trusted. They clearly have no sense of humor, and are almost also certainly awful people.

Is Kenny my spirit animal? I won’t confirm or deny those allegations, but many people have made the comparison. I’ll let history decide.
