A mother and daughter made some hero moves to save a young woman from an alleged attempted kidnapping in Houston.
Cecila, whose last name is not known, was bringing her child to school last week when they saw a man try to grab a young girl in the streets.
ABC 13 reported the following details on the crazy situation:
At the same time, a woman named, Cecilia, was driving her own daughter to school. They saw what was happening.
“We could see when she was trying to get away from him, forcefully pushing him, and that’s when she turned around and looked at us,” said Cecilia’s daughter.
Without hesitation, the pair told the girl to get in their truck, and the chase was on. The suspect drove away, running stop signs.

The suspect, later identified as Daniel Zapata, eventually ran his truck into a ditch. Cecilia boxed in the truck, but not before she said he rammed it in an attempt to get away.

Zapata was arrested, and charged with attempted kidnapping, aggravated assault, and DUI — a third offense.

There’s no other way to sum this one up than to say these two quick thinking women are heroes in every sense of the word. I can’t imagine being in a situation where you’re driving your daughter to school, and the next moment you’re chasing down an alleged kidnapper. What a wild experience and rush that must have been for everybody involved.
I guess you simply don’t have a choice, but to intervene in a situation like this. I think it’s human nature to want to protect others, and that’s exactly what this duo did. Also, kind of surprising that this took place in Houston and there wasn’t any gun play involved. People in Texas take guns very seriously, and allegedly trying to kidnap somebody could end with some serious violence in places where guns are prevalent.
Hopefully, justice is delivered in this situation and Zapata is taken off of the streets if the allegations are proven to be true. Major props to the mother and daughter for saving a young woman from a fate that nobody would even ever want to think about.
