Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh explained on Monday that President Donald Trump has managed quite the feat by hitting 50 percent approval despite receiving consistently negative media coverage.

Trump’s approval rating hit 50 percent in Rasmussen’s daily tracking poll on Monday, surpassing Barack Obama’s approval rating at the same point in his presidency. (RELATED: 50 PERCENT: Trump Outpaces Obama In Approval Ratings)

Limbaugh noted on his radio show that Trump was able to hit 50 percent even though the media gives him “100 percent” negative coverage.

“All of these things that Trump is up against and yet he’s at 50 percent approval,” Limbaugh said. “Not to mention 100 percent, 90 percent negative media coverage.”

“The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, CNN, USA Today, well hell, MSNBC — every media outlet out there is lined up 100 percent opposed to him,” he claimed. “You would think that with all of this, his numbers would be plummeting!”

Limbaugh suggested that Trump’s high approval rating might even be a “backlash” to the media’s overwhelmingly negative coverage.
