Actor Lou Diamond Phillips will avoid jail time after he entered a guilty plea Wednesday in Sinton, Texas, for driving while intoxicated.

The 56-year-old actor, probably best known for his role in “La Bamba,” was arrested last November in Portland, Texas, for driving while intoxicated, according to the Corpus Christi Caller Times. (RELATED: ‘Walking Dead’ Actor Arrested After Driving Like A Drunk Lunatic)

The “Longmire” star appeared in the San Patricio County Courthouse alongside his dad and was given two years probation as part of the deal.

Other parts of the plea agreement consist of Phillips not drinking for at least two years, staying away from any bars or taverns, taking part in a DWI education program, wearing a device that monitors alcohol consumption and appearing in person in San Patricio County for probation for the first four months, according to Mark DiCarlo, Phillips’ attorney.

“Mr. Phillips has issued his apologies a number of times regarding this incident, and from the beginning, the time of his arrest, he voluntarily took the breathalyzer, submitted to a filed sobriety test, and expressed his remorse about the fact that this has occurred,” DiCarlo explained.
