Here’s The Awesome Way Cam Newton Helped Out Special Olympics Athletes

On Thursday, Newton took several Special Olympics athletes to a local Dick’s Sporting Goods to help them stock up on athletic gear and accessories. He gave each athlete $200 to pick out whatever they wanted, including shoes, jerseys and other recreational swag. (RELATED: Criticizing Cam Newton’s Comments Is Apparently Racist)

Some of the more special moments were caught on camera from spectators, where Newton offered advice on what kind of gear to buy and how to stay on budget.

No matter what you think of Cam Newton, this is pretty awesome. Sure, the Panthers QB has his fair share of haters, but this supersedes sports drama. Fans were clearly surprised and exited to see him, and it’s always good to see a professional athlete giving back to the community.
