Host of Fox Business’ “Varney & Company,” Stuart Varney, blamed former President Barack Obama for America’s “left turn” towards socialism, Monday on “Fox & Friends.”
“[Obama] is largely responsible for the left turn in American politics over the eight years of his presidency,” Varney said. “I left England in the 1970s. And I left because it was a socialist economy which offered no hope for anybody who wanted to climb the food chain. Mass unemployment. Absolutely low growth. It was a terrible place back in the 1970s and I left. I came to America. I did okay.”
“Suddenly I find that socialism is back in favor in America,” Varney added. “I could hardly believe it.”
Varney also blamed academia for America’s socialist sympathizing and believes socialism is fueled by greed and jealousy.

“I think it’s my generation which now runs the universities. It’s the campuses. It’s the academics that are doing it,” Varney said. “Look, it’s fueled by a sense of jealousy. You got it. I don’t. I want it. Give it to me now. That’s socialism.”
The Democratic Socialists of America are a small but rapidly growing group and are made up of people trying to radicalize the Democratic Party from within, Varney said.
“Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Keith Ellison, they’re mainstream Democrats. They are leading and pushing the party left on the inside towards socialism,” Varney concluded. “The Democratic Socialists of America whatever it’s called. They’re not a third party. They’re inside the Democrats. They’re working to push it much further left. They want tax the rich. Single payer medical systems. Open borders. That’s what they want.”
