Comedian Michelle Wolf took a break from roasting President Donald Trump at Saturday evening’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner. She turned her attention on White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, saying that she was never quite certain what to call her,
“Is it Sarah Sanders, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Cousin Huckabee, Auntie Huckabee Sanders? What’s ‘Uncle Tom,’ but for white women who disappoint other white women?”
The Daily Mail’s David Martosko was not impressed by Wolf’s comments, and noted that there were a few other jokes that may have crossed the line as well.
The @WCHA dinner just heard @michelleisawolf call @PressSec Sarah Sanders a disappointment to other white women. And Sarah was sitting two seats away from the podium. Very low-class. Shows why Trump was right not to show up.

Lots of the jokes were funny, some were daring. But there were a few crossed lines. Another one was mocking pro-life conservatives and saying “don’t knock it til you try it — and when you try it, really knock it! Get that baby out of there…”

And Martosko apparently was not the only one who felt that particular joke had crossed a line.
OMG, the camera just caught the President of the WHCA walk over to Sarah Sanders and rub her back, asking if she’s okay.#WHCD

Charlotte Clymer later clarified that her intent was not to show that she believed a line had been crossed.
Uh, no, @VAKruta. I thought Michelle Wolf was hilarious and this moment was particularly funny and ironic to me because of the way Sarah Sanders treats the press on a daily basis.
