Republican Rep. Ron DeSantis of Florida said if America is able to denuclearize the Korean peninsula, it will be the biggest political achievement since the fall of the Berlin Wall.

“If we denuclearize the Korean peninsula, that will be by far the greatest achievement since the fall of the Berlin wall and the end of the Cold War,” DeSantis said on “Lou Dobbs Tonight” Monday. “And [President] Donald Trump will be the reason for that.”

“All of his predecessors going back 25 year had the same approach,” he said. “Pretend the problem doesn’t exist, don’t do anything about it. Hope it go away.”

DeSantis said it would’ve been easier for Trump to simply “put his head in the sand” but instead, the president decided to play offense and it’s finally paying off.

“He brought an unprecedented level of pressure on [North Korean leader] Kim Jong Un and the North Korean regime and oh by the way, China,” DeSantis added. “Had we continued the Obama approach there’s no way we’d be sniffing any of this right now.”

“The president deserves a lot of credit already,” he concluded. “And I’m hoping that Kim Jong Un realizes he’s met his match with Donald Trump and he’s much better off actually doing a deal in getting rid of these nuclear weapons.”
