CNN anchor Chris Cuomo brought up Rick Santorum’s Catholic faith on Wednesday in an apparent attempt to shame him into attacking President Donald Trump.

WATCH:

Cuomo cited a study from The Washington Post that claims the president has lied 3,001 times and asked Santorum if he would denounce Trump’s untruths.

Santorum argued that President Obama lied about much bigger issues than Trump, but the media didn’t give him the same scrutiny.

“You can keep your doctor, you can keep your insurance, you know, we didn’t pay off Iran,” Santorum asserted. “I think the substance of the previous president’s lies were much more than the substance of what the crowd size was at the Inaugural.”

Cuomo was clearly upset that Santorum wouldn’t admit Trump has a unique problem with lying when compared to other presidents and accused him of being a moral relativist.

“Moral relativism from a practicing Catholic,” Cuomo said with some snark.

Santorum laughed at Cuomo bringing up his faith and said that he has criticized Trump before for saying untrue things. He added that he wishes the media would consider that all presidents have done the same thing.
