Meghan Markle will break tradition and not have a maid of honor when she gets married later this month to Prince Harry.

“She has a very close-knit circle of friends and she didn’t want to choose one over another,” a palace spokesperson said of the 36-year-old actress. “All have been actively involved in helping her prepare for the day and will be there in the days beforehand. She’s very happy to have their support.”

On Friday, Kensington Palace also issued a press release about other details surrounding the pending royal nuptials that will take place on May 19 at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.  (SLIDESHOW: 18 Times Meghan Markle Already Looked Like A Royal)

“The first thing I would like to share is that Prince Harry and Ms. Markle are very much looking forward to welcoming Ms. Markle’s parents to Windsor for the wedding. Mr. Thomas Markle and Ms. Doria Ragland will be arriving in the UK in the week of the wedding, allowing time for Prince Harry’s family, including The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, to spend time with them before the big day,” the statement read.

“Mr. Markle will walk his daughter down the aisle of St George’s Chapel,” it added. “Ms. Markle is delighted to have her parents by her side on this important and happy occasion.”

“There will also be a brief stop at the Castle where Ms. Ragland will head onto the Chapel and Ms. Markle will be joined by some of the Bridesmaids and Page Boys before she continues her journey to the church,” it continued.

More details to come.
