A New York attorney allegedly told President Donald Trump and his personal lawyer Michael Cohen in 2013 about the allegations leveled against former New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

Attorney Peter Gleason spoke with Cohen about allegations that Schneiderman “sexually victimized” two women, according to a letter Gleason filed Friday in a New York federal court. Schneiderman resigned May 7 after a New Yorker story quoted women who said he abused them. (RELATED: NY AG Called EX His ‘Brown Slave’ And Slapped Her Until She Called Him ‘Master’)

“During my communications with Mr. Cohen I shared with him certain details of Scheinderman’s [sic] vile attacks on these two women,” Gleason wrote. “The extent of Mr. Cohen’s memorializing any of our communications is unknown,” he added, asking the court to seal any such records related to the conversation.

Gleason said he spoke with Cohen about the allegation because Schneiderman and Trump were locked in a legal battle over alleged fraud in the Trump University scheme. The New York AG filed suit against Trump University in 2013, claiming it defrauded customers and violated New York law. (RELATED: Report: Trump Settles Trump University Case For $25 Million)

Trump eventually agreed to a $25 million settlement covering the New York case after winning the White House. He initially vowed to never settle the matter.

Gleason told the two women not to come forward about their allegations for fear their claim would never come to light. He ultimately mentioned the matter to retired New York Post reporter Steve Dunleavy, who floated broaching the topic with Trump because of the Trump University case.

“Mr. Cohen was very sympathetic to the plight of these young women,” Gleason said. “I had conversations with Cohen and shared certain things which I consider to be privileged.”

Jane Mayer, one of the authors of the New Yorker piece, told her Twitter followers Friday that none of the sources for their piece came from Trump. “Just to be clear: not one source for our story on Schneiderman has any ties to Trump or Michael Cohen. Our sources all are deeply opposed to Trump and deeply disappointed that Schneiderman let them and their Cause down,” Mayer wrote.
