During the 2016 campaign, Hillary Clinton once reportedly explained the difference between fans of Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump by saying, “at least white supremacists shaved.”

Jacobin Mag reports:

“In the public’s mind, Clinton’s ‘deplorables’ quip is remembered as evidence of her disdain for much of Trump’s fan base. But there was one other group Clinton had a similar dislike of: Bernie Sanders supporters. As one person who had talked to Clinton about the difference between Trump and Sanders crowds recounted, her feeling was that ‘at least white supremacists shaved.'”

The revelation came from a new book about Clinton’s campaign written by New York Times reporter Amy Chozick.

The joke seems to imply that there are many white supremacists who support Trump, and that Hillary in some ways sees such “white supremacists” as being preferable to Bernie Sanders’ fans. (RELATED: Poll: Melania Trump Is A More Popular First Lady Than Hillary Clinton)
