Politico senior writer Jake Sherman made a bold prediction about Republicans losing the House of Representatives this November, on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Friday, but he failed to provide any hard evidence to back up his claim.

“The Senate is not in as much play as the House is. The House is really up for grabs; and I’ve been covering the House since 2010, and this is the first time I’ve heard actual alarm about losing the House,” Sherman said. “The president’s party usually loses 29 seats in the first midterm. They need to keep; the Democrats need to win 24 seats.” (RELATED: Scott Walker Predicts Blue Wave Will Hit This November)

The media’s predictions on elections have been thrown into question since President Donald Trump’s victory, Sherman admitted but stuck by his theory and even gave odds on the Democrats retaking the House.

“Every available statistic that we have indicates Republicans are going to lose the House,” he concluded. “Again, with our experience in 2016, we don’t want to predict. But if I were a gambling man today, I think it’s a 65 percent chance the Democrats win the House.”
