President Donald Trump once again floated the idea that a confidential FBI informant was planted in the Trump campaign to gleam information, in a Friday tweet.

Trump has repeatedly tweeted about the accusation in the past two days, previously quoting analysis from Fox News contributors and National Review’s Andrew McCarthy.

Trump and the analysts reacted to recent revelations from The New York Times, which noted that “at least one government informant met several times with Mr. Page and Mr. Papadopoulos,” who were both advisory members of the 2016 campaign.

Conservative lawmakers have now launched an effort to force the Department of Justice to reveal who its confidential source inside the Trump campaign was.

“There is probably no doubt that they had at least one confidential informant in the campaign,” former prosecutor and columnist Andrew McCarthy said on “Fox & Friends” Thursday morning prompting a presidential tweet. “What happened here is they did not have a criminal predicate to open an investigation on Trump as they had an immense predicate to conduct on President Clinton.”
