White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders took aim at Democratic lawmakers for opposing CIA director Gina Haspel’s nomination.
Historic day for our country: swearing-in ceremony for Gina Haspel, the first woman ever to serve as CIA director. Democrats are losing their war against women in the Trump administration.

Haspel garnered enough votes for confirmation Friday after Democratic lawmakers lambasted her for her role in the CIA’s enhanced interrogation program under the Bush administration in the early 2000s. Haspel was accused by many of being complicit in an American torture regime and her unwillingness to disavow the program.
The newly confirmed CIA director did, however, tell Congress she would not ever restart an interrogation program under the purview of the agency.
Sanders has previously accessed Democratic lawmakers of hypocrisy on women’s empowerment by opposing Haspel’s nomination.
There is no one more qualified to be the first woman to lead the CIA than 30+ year CIA veteran Gina Haspel. Any Democrat who claims to support women’s empowerment and our national security but opposes her nomination is a total hypocrite
