MSNBC has chosen Chris Hayes, some would say the whitest man, and Joy Reid, a woman with a homophobic history, to host an upcoming town hall on racism in America.

The town hall is called “Everyday Racism in America” and will air on Tuesday, May 29.

An MSNBC press release for the event says the discussion will focus on “race relations” and will talk specifically about a recent incident at a Starbucks where two black men were arrested after asking to use the bathroom.

MSNBC has chosen Reid as a co-moderator for the event despite the fact that she was recently revealed to have written homophobic posts on her old personal blog. Reid suggested that she may have been hacked and never admitted to writing the posts. Some commentators have called MSNBC tone deaf for allowing her to host a town hall on discrimination so shortly after her own scandals. (RELATED: Joy Reid’s Hacking Story Filled With Holes)

MSNBC’s only other anchors of color are Craig Melvin, Rev. Al Sharpton, and Ali Velshi.

Lawmakers and the National Association of Black Journalists expressed concerns in 2016 that the network was failing in its diversity efforts after firing Melissa Harris-Perry. The New Republic noted on Wednesday that the network is getting “whiter.”

MSNBC did not respond to a request for comment.
