Meghan McCain made it clear Friday that she is not afraid to stand up for what she believes and said once again that she supports the new NFL national anthem policy.

“I never go on TV and do or say anything because it’s easy – I say it because it’s what I believe in. I ardently believe in standing for our flag, and I am not scared of an audience in front of me or behind the camera,” McCain tweeted to her followers.

“I would be scared if I were a phony, betraying my values,” she added.

During Thursday’s episode of “The View,” McCain defended the NFL’s new policy of punishing players who refuse to stand for the singing of the “Star-Spangled Banner.

All the co-hosts but McCain were furious about the new policy, linking it to something that might only happen in a dictatorship and taking away players’ freedom.

“I completely disagree with everyone on this table,” McCain shared. “I would never be OK with somebody not saluting the flag. Seventy-two percent of Americans, according to Reuters, said that they thought [Colin] Kaepernick’s behavior was unpatriotic, unpatriotic.”

Co-host Sunny Hostin and the audience interrupted her, but McCain pushed through: “Can I please finish what I’m saying? I’m still talking. I’m still talking. I’m still speaking.'”

Whoopi Goldberg then threw to a commercial break and when they came back, McCain said this was a business decision plain and simple and had nothing to do with taking away players’ freedom.
