A California man was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to a foiled terror attack planned for San Francisco’s famed Pier 39.

Everitt Aaron Jameson, 26, pleaded guilty the day of the sentencing in a Fresno federal court and was given a 15-year prison term, according to SF Gate.

Jameson was formally indicted on two charges in January 2018 for attempting to provide material support and resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization and distribution of information relating to destructive devices. As part of the plea deal, prosecutors also agreed to drop the second charge. The FBI arrested Jameson in December 2017 after confessing to an undercover FBI agent his plot to blow up Pier 39 on Christmas Day. Prior to his arrest, Jameson had been meeting with the undercover agent who was posing as a “brother” in the Islamic State and communicating with other FBI agents.

Jameson first came to the FBI’s attention last October after espousing jihadi beliefs on social media, reports KTVU. He later admitted that he converted to Islam two years earlier and that he supports ISIS.

The terror plot was planned for Pier 39 due to the large crowd it attracts and because “no reconnaissance or site survey would be necessary” wrote Agent Christopher McKinney in the FBI affidavit.
