Bernie Sanders tweeted on Sunday that he finds it “very strange” that President Trump is “comfortable” working with “despots and authoritarian leaders,” yet has problems “getting along” with other world leaders.
Presumably criticizing Trump’s rocky G7 summit and his testy exchanges with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the issue of tariffs and trade, Sanders tweeted that Trump “feels very comfortable” with “despots” like the leaders of Russia, China, the Philippines, and Saudi Arabia. President Trump left the G7 summit early then hammered Trudeau for taking a different tone with the media regarding Trump and American trade policy compared to his tone at the meetings.
“Based on Justin’s false statements at his news conference, and the fact that Canada is charging massive Tariffs to our U.S. farmers, workers and companies, I have instructed our U.S. Reps not to endorse the Communique as we look at Tariffs on automobiles flooding the U.S. Market!” tweeted Trump on Saturday. “PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meek and mild during our @G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that, ‘US Tariffs were kind of insulting’ and he ‘will not be pushed around.’ Very dishonest & weak. Our Tariffs are in response to his of 270% on dairy!”
