A GOP congressional candidate running in a New Jersey district said that “diversity is a bunch of crap and un-American” in a video that was posted by a progressive super PAC on YouTube on Tuesday.

“In my view, the best way to bring diversity to the Republican Party is for Republicans to openly say that the whole idea of diversity is a bunch of crap and un-American,” Seth Grossman said in the video, which was recorded in April.

Grossman continued, “Now, what diversity has become, it’s been an excuse by Democrats, communists and socialists, basically, to say that we’re not all created equal, that some people, if he — if somebody is lesser qualified, they will get a job anyway, or they’ll get into college anyway because of the tribe that they’re with, what group, what box they fit into.”

The National Republican Congressional Committee endorsed Grossman earlier this month.

Grossman is running for New Jersey’s second district. He is going up against the Democratic nominee state Sen. Jeff Van Drew.

The incumbent, Republican Frank LoBiondo, decided not to run for re-election after holding the seat since 1995.
