CNN’s Van Jones Claims Christians Have A Responsibility To Bring Morals To Illegal Immigration Fight [VIDEO]
Jones said conservatives have to do a better job of crafting their opinions on illegal immigration and said it isn’t worth securing the border if children are scarred in the process. (RELATED: Van Jones Resurrects Environmental Conspiracy Theories)
“We need sharper statements from our conservative Christian friends. This is a no-brainer. This is not hard. You can say I want the most secure borders ever, but I don’t want to scar children,” Jones said. “I do not want 2-year-old babies who are going to be emotionally scarred for 20, 30, 40, 50 years — ‘where is my mama, where is my mama.’ For three months, six months. You don’t want that to have a secure border. And you don’t have to do that to children to have a secure border.”
Jones said Christians on the right now have an opportunity to embrace principle over policy and put their money where their mouth is.
“It’s a no-brainer. It’s a no-brainer,” Jones continued. “From my point of view, this is the opportunity for the Christian evangelical movement to step forward and say, ‘hold on a second. If we’re going to be key to this governing coalition, we are going to impose some morals and some principles. Maybe not on the behavior of the president in his personal life, but certainly on the behavior of public policy.'”
