The Republican National Committee raised $14.6 million as of May, putting fundraising at a record high for a non-presidential year, the RNC announced on Wednesday.

The party raked in $199.1 million for the 2017-2018 cycle and has $47.1 million on hand with no debt.

The RNC has invested $250 million in its midterm election strategy, “the largest ground game investment we’ve ever made in any cycle,” wrote Ronna McDaniel, chairwoman of the RNC, in a May opinion piece for The Hill(RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: RNC Chairman Ronna McDaniel On The State Of The GOP)

The committee has garnered 98 percent of its revenue from small-dollar online contributions and added 100,000 new donors during this cycle, a person close to the RNC told The Daily Caller News Foundation. These numbers “routinely beat, often double the DNC.” The Democratic National Committee raised $87.7 million, while the RNC brought in nearly two times that amount, with $171.5 million raised for its party by the end of March, according to reports by the Federal Election Commission.

The party is focused on beefing up infrastructure to expand on-the-ground staff in time for the midterm elections. It had 300 permanent staffers on the ground as of May in dozens of states across the country to drum up Republican support by engaging with communities and rallying support from voters, according to McDaniel. The strategy has resulted in more than 15 million voter contacts.

“Americans are enthusiastic about President Trump and the Republican agenda and they want to see this great American comeback continue. We are building on that enthusiasm this cycle,” said McDaniel in a press release obtained by TheDCNF Wednesday. “We will have the biggest ground game in our Party’s history. We are not leaving a single vote unturned and we are ready to defy the odds this November.”
