An anti-gun group called off its staged die-in demonstration at Disney World, fearing backlash for scaring children, the student-led organization announced Monday.

The demonstration, planned by the organization National Die-In and scheduled for sometime in June, was meant to protest Disney for contributing to political committees supporting Adam Putnam, Florida’s current agriculture commissioner and a GOP gubernatorial candidate.

Putnam, a self-titled “proud #NRASellout,” is a supporter of the Second Amendment and the National Rifle Association. As Florida’s commissioner of agriculture, he expanded the concealed weapon license program, making it the largest in the nation. (RELATED: Students Lead Anti-Gun Die-In, Storm Ted Cruz’s Office [VIDEO])

National Die-In cancelled the event after receiving backlash for the demonstration. “People were saying, ‘You’re going to traumatize children,'” Nurah Abdulhaqq, a co-founder of National Die-In, told the Orlando Sentinel. However, Abdulhaqq said the group will still try to pressure Disney via phone and email.

The anti-gun group also held die-ins at various Publix stores in May, protesting the chain’s donations to Putman’s campaign. Publix announced it was suspending political donations following the protest, which included multiple left-wing organizations.
